Keith Joyce MM attended a Remembrance Day service in Rockhampton Queensland on 11 November 2009. This self confessed mad galah was wearing a Silver Star on his Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry when he is entitled to only the Bronze Star. He was also wearing a buy your own medal with his Military Medal and also sported a lower level USA commendation medal.

To read about this galahs medal wearing on 11 November 2009 open the attachment  Keith_Joyce_MM.doc

Subject: GFK Joyce and his medals etc

Dear AVM with reference to Joyce and his Vietnam service. Please note that I do not demean his award of the MM but to the fact he is wearing the MUC to which I am sure he has no entitlement to as this Unit Commendation ceased on 31 August 1969. He is also wearing tin, the last medal in his rack is an “off the shelf Frontline Medal I think” without checking online.

Also due to his lack of service knowledge military accoutrements are worn in a similar manner according the Service Dress manual one served with. The army dress manual has the ICB centred and above the medals on the left breast and unit awards worn on the right breast at the same level as the medals on the left. The US Unit award takes precedence over the RVN Cross of Gallantry Unit award and would be reversed to how Joyce has his.

ANZMI would I am sure be interested and they are CC to this email –
